Instead of holding a campaign rally over the Dragon Boat Festival weekend, Li-Shin returned to the neighborhood around Guangzhao Temple. He joined temple volunteers and residents to deliver rice dumplings, spend time with older neighbors, and carry food upstairs for those with limited mobility.
“I would rather walk into an alley than shout from a stage,” he said. These ordinary conversations reveal what Wanhua needs: the arcade that is difficult to walk through, the corner that feels too dark at night, or the older neighbor who may need someone to check in.
Those details will become questions for future council work. Service does not have to wait until after an election.
